Halloween 2008

Halloween was a little bit different this year, but we made some fun changes. First of all Zachary got to go trick-or-treating with his friends this year. Wow that was such a big deal and I think he really had a blast!! Look how scary he is! Jeff told him it's his last year to go trick-or-treating. I'm not sure if I agree with him. How old were you when you stopped going trick-or-treating? I think I was probably in High School before I stopped. I can't ever remember my parents taking me around to go trick-or-treating either - I guess my sisters did that.

Josh and Hayden got to go trick-or-treating with their friends down the street which was fun. They had a blast walking around with friends. Jeffrey came with us too. It was a beautiful night. Just great weather - which was so nice - it's been so cold the last few Halloweens that I can remember - so this year having great weather was a treat!

After a couple streets, we all were invited over for Chili and Scones - yum!! Thanks Brad & Brianna, it turned out to be such a fun night!

Great costumes, I always try to get my kids to dress scarry, but they always go for the cute princess look, except Wes of course. We have a tradition in our family that trick or treating ends after age 12, unless they are escorting their younger siblings, Wes and Heather took Quinn out this year and split his candy.

Love the costumes - I say trick-or-treating is something you should encourage in your kids. Like Santa it is a milestone that indicates the maturity (or loss of childhood when it happens) level of the kid. Let them enjoy their childhood as long as possible, it all goes by too quickly. I agree, Angie and I were in high school too, and only stopped when it was funner to be the candy giver (living scarecrows) than the candy getters.
Glad ya'll had so much fun!

Oooo scary! Boys are great aren't they. I told Jeremy (14) this year that since he was not a kid and he's taller than most adults, he might consider not going trick or treating with the kids this year. Jessica hasn't gone for a few years. He chose to go to a party with his dad while he did a Halloween magic show. Then I found out that Jessica and her friends always go trick or treating at some point during their parties (she's 17). Oh well, I'm just a dumb old lady - out of touch. Next year I'll let him do what he wants. He was happy though, Melissa shared a lot of her loot with him (she doesn't like half of her candy) and he didn't have to do any of the walking - yay!

Love the costumes. The kids look great!
Growing up we could go Trick or Treating until we were 12. I think that's a good age. Not too young, not too old. Of course when you're the 12 year old you don't feel too old. :)
